The Guest is the exact opposite of Drive, starring Ryan Gosling. It is exactly the opposite of the motivation of the protagonist's actions: if Gosling in the role of "Driver" beat the bad guys to help the girl he liked, then Dan Stevens, in the role of David, aka "Guest", beat the bad guys purely for the sake of his own selfish interests. So why is he a "Guest"? Because he came to visit the family of his colleague, having promised his soldier friend that he would solve all the problems of his family, look after and take care of them. Gullible American rednecks did not suspect a trick, and at first everything went well.
At first, you are imbued with sympathy for the main character, but towards the end of the film, sympathy changes to contempt and disgust. Well, that's in normal, mentally healthy people. I am sure that there are those among the audience who liked David until the very end of the picture. This film can be used to identify psychopaths and sociopaths. The comedic component of the film reminded me of "Kill Bill" by Tarantino, but here not only kill Bill, but in general kill everyone, kill, kill!
The film is not boring, something is constantly happening on the screen, it looks in the same breath. The backstory and main plot of the film is similar to the film "Ultra-Americans", that is, secret agents, black funnels, a group of capture and secret government experiments. However, in the film "The Guest" it is not explained what kind of experiments, why they are, where did David get his outstanding ability to crumble enemies in batches, and is there any at all? At first you think: "this is how a real man should be!", But then it becomes clear that he is Evil itself in an attractive wrapper.
