A great movie that spawned a great remake - 'For a Fistful of Dollars'. The difference between Kurosawa's and Leone's films is the use of plot and the interpretation of the protagonist's character.
Toshiro Mifune - samurai, for whom the total destruction of two gangs of scum - a matter of honor, he does not care about money in principle, sake and a bowl of rice to him provided by pumped charisma.
Eastwood plays rather just a mercenary, good deeds for which - just a way to work, although we can assume that he is trying to seem worse than it is in reality. Whose image is deeper and whose ways are more honest is a tricky question, really.
'- The undertaker, two coffins. No, I think it's three.'
'- They're going to make peace. What am I going to do with these coffin boards now?!
