As a standalone work, it’s a bit weak. The plot is derivative, new themes aren’t explored, and the characters hardly develop at all. But nostalgia and the cast do their job. Still, it’s unlikely anyone will rewatch it alongside the first film—the difference between the vibrant original and its pale shadow is just too obvious.
