The Crush 4K 1993

It’s hard to even count how many times I’ve watched this movie. As a teenager, movies like this—the ones that aren’t so straightforward—stay with you for a long time…

This movie is very intense. Very! I honestly don’t know where to start...

But I guess I’ll start at the very beginning. I want to point out right away why I love this movie so much. The thing is, the core of this film lies in the fact that the main character suffers from a rather serious teenage problem—a lack of love, affection, and care—and, as a result, all of this has turned into a severe psychological disorder, subconsciously, of course.

The main character—Darien Forester—is a pretty typical teenager who wants to try entering into an adult relationship. Every girl, once she reaches a certain age, wants love—it’s only natural. But while some may remain passive observers of their own love lives, others may go to great lengths in this regard, sometimes going too far.

Nick Elliot—a journalist who lands a new job at a major company and rents a cottage owned by the main character’s parents—becomes, in a way, a victim of Darien’s illusions.

After a few rather risqué moments, viewers will definitely understand what Darien is up to. It’s hard to say whether her behavior goes beyond the bounds of reasonable teenage behavior or not at a stage when she isn’t yet resorting to particularly extreme actions. I often asked myself: How would I react to the passivity of a man I want to win over?

But then I’m forced to quickly answer myself: “Definitely not the way Darien does!”

The girl is so desperate that she’s willing to do anything to win Nick’s love—and more. I won’t hide the fact that at times I wanted him to give in to the main character’s seduction. But this amazing man not only refused the pleasure of mindlessly sleeping with a teenager, but also remained true to his principles as an honest person. It’s nice to see people like that, even though I’m well aware that there are very few of them…

The plot takes an interesting turn, and the action really starts to heat up pretty soon after the story begins. Alicia did a wonderful job playing the young, crazy girl who’ll drive anyone crazy until she gets her way. The scenes of tantrums and fights vividly remind me of myself because I often behave just like this bitchy, pathetic drama queen…

Finally, I’ll note that this is one of my favorite movies because when I watch it, I realize how NOT to behave. The supporting actors give excellent performances, and each one brings a unique and original touch to their character. The music keeps you on the edge of your seat—in a good way. I love everything about this movie!
