Microcosmos 1996

An hour and a half spent on an unknown planet where all distances are measured in millimeters. Its inhabitants: fantastic creatures, insects, snails, and other creatures of grass and water. Its landscapes: impenetrable thickets of grass, dewdrops as big as balloons. The viewer discovers a beautiful, shining with all the colors of the rainbow parallel world where other physical laws work. A world flooded with irreal light, full of unknown sounds. A land where animals can walk on water or walk upside down. A pheasant walking along an ant trail impresses you as much as Godzilla from a famous thriller, and a regular summer thunderstorm makes you think of an air attack by a hundred heavy bombers. Constant transitions from one world to another make the stunned audience feel the relativity of our ideas about space. The viewer feels himself a tiny paratrooper, thrown into the very epicenter of the action. He hears the rumble of ant wars and the roar of bee wings behind him.
