Nick retired a long time ago, and now sells the most expensive thing that a person in a metropolis can have, who has gone under water - memories. People come to his office, and go to meet the best days of their lives. One day the beautiful Mei visits the businessman. She forgot where she put the keys. Nick successfully finds them, and then the characters suddenly have an affair. It just as suddenly ends, because Mei has disappeared somewhere.
'Memories' is a neo-noir mixture of 'Total Recall', 'Disappeared' and 'Waterworld', which is not good, the film feels secondary in absolutely all its aspects. At the same time, it was filmed incredibly beautifully, written out in dull colors. The sunken Los Angeles looks convincing, but it is criminally small in the frame.
Hugh Jackman in the picture looks like a seasoned thug like Logan, but his character is far from a fighter. In general, he is a classic genre image. As well as his beloved May, performed by Rebecca Fergusson, a kind of femme fatale.
Memories is a very beautiful and stylish, but secondary tabloid novel, set in an interesting setting, which in this case does not work at all for the story. Yes, this is a whole sunken city, but it does not perform any function in the script. Nothing more than a picturesque setting.
