Re-watched my childhood movie the other day, and I wasn't disappointed at all! Despite the fact that it was made in the 80's, it's very well done!
In fact, I don't really watch the latest vampire movies, it's too cheesy and overdone! The main character, vampire Jerry Dandridge, captivates from the first minute, as he will be shown, very well for this role picked up Chris Sarandon, a mixture of sexuality and something sinister! And the other characters don't disappoint either : The boy Charlie is funny with his curiosity, ready at the most responsible moment, when he has a chance to make love for the first time, to drop everything for the sake of the strange events he saw in the window; his girlfriend Amy, who is strangely similar to the former love of Jerry, a funny nerd who either runs tail after Charlie or resents him for every silly action, but nevertheless is ready to help him at any difficult moment; and a very interesting character Peter Vincent, who is the host of 'Fright Night' and uses this pseudonym, a hard-to-get-out-of-duty old man who ends up being better than he is initially perceived and goes on the warpath with Charlie against the vampire.
You don't get bored even for a minute, events unfold very fast, it's nice to look at the 80's atmosphere, and it's even nicer to listen to the soundtrack! The remake with Anton Yelchin is due out soon, I hope it will be as similar to the original as possible, and most importantly, that Collin Farrell plays the role of Jerry no worse than Chris Sarandon, as Jerry Dandridge is the most charming and appealing vampire I have seen in movies. Even better than Bram Stoker's Dracula...I give it a solid 9, for the great acting, for the music to the movie and for the script!
