'Reservoir Dogs' is Quentin Tarantino's first feature film.

There were eight of them. They planned a raid on a jewelry store. Everything was supposed to go off without a hitch, but something went wrong - an ambush was waiting for them. The perfect heist turned into a bloodbath. Two of the robbers were killed, and another was seriously wounded. What happened? It's simple - among them was a traitorous policeman. But who was he?

The survivors of the gangsters begin to pull up to the predetermined place of the meeting - the former morgue. This is where the main events of the film take place, interrupted only occasionally by not-so-long flashbacks. While waiting for Joe, the ringleader, and his son, Eddie, to show them who the traitor is, the two raiders try to find out who the traitor is, all the while fighting and cursing like mad dogs.

Tarantino's script is excellent - drama, vivid dialogues, interesting characters, great humor, unexpected plot twists - all this is in abundance. The entire film is an excellent example for aspiring directors to shoot their first picture. Quentin builds his film in a very unusual way. He plays with time, inserting snippets from the past into the present, thus as if directing the plot in the right direction. Tarantino simply plays with the audience and does it masterfully.

One should not forget about the wonderful acting. I do not know how Quentin did it, but he gathered into his film some of the best actors of the time. And this is for such a paltry budget. Every character is executed perfectly. Harvey Keitel, in my opinion, played his best role in this film - Larry Dimmick, whom he plays - I believed him without reservation.

I have to hand it to Tarantino, he didn't moralize, he didn't put any hidden message in the film. He just made an extremely interesting genre film - a gangster story with an unexpected finale, which is watchable in one breath. A brilliant debut.
