I wonder what the filmmakers are thinking, putting the 12+ category and the horror genre at the same time? Do they want to increase their profits by expanding their audience? It is unlikely that parents will take their children to see such a creation, and real horror aficionados will consider it something supposedly worthwhile with such an age category. It couldn't be a stupider move on their part, because in the end, these pseudo-horrors really do turn out to fit this censor.
First of all, the plot is battered beyond belief. So much so, that even with Astral, which has far from the highest degree of originality, one does not want to compare it. The board, otherworldly forces, a group of teenage friends deprived of intelligence - everything is as usual.
Secondly, the complete lack of tension, intrigue and everything that should be inherent in the horror genre. Not a drop of blood, not a single mystery, not a single scary moment - even the music, designed to enhance the feeling of false fear, was picked up like this. Why again? We look at the age range.
Third, the open ending is a classic of the genre. I hope the creators aren't going to make a sequel, but just didn't/won't refine the film.
Bottom line - bad, bad and bad all over again. If you are over 12 years old, don't waste your precious time on another comedy.
