"Bombshell" is a film about sexual harassment in the workplace, specifically on the popular American TV channel FOX NEWS, which, as the channel's director says, is "visual media." The subject of the film is very sensitive, poignant and caustic, but not insignificant. Because something like this is happening here and now, next to you, next to someone else. If you don't know about it, that doesn't mean it's not happening.
The main storyline is taken from the real-life story of FOX NEWS Channel head Roger Ailsa. A media personality, a true titan in television, who was fired in 2016 due to allegations of sexual harassment from years ago.
The film is dynamic and realistic and understandable, the costumes and hairstyles truly immersive in the behind-the-scenes of American television. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyle in 2020, and actresses Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie were also nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Charlize Theron was incredibly good in the role, as was John Lithgow who played Roger, he was peerless. Who has seen "Third Planet from the Sun"? Remember John as the alien in Dr. Solomon's skin?
The movie was criticized for its script and inaccuracies, but who knows the accuracy of the story? Even the participants in this event, the truth has its own.
And finally, to quote the heroine, Gretchen Carlson, who began this difficult battle: "...Many. Even women are skeptical of harassment until they've experienced it for themselves or know that someone they know has been through it."
