Just a great film. One of the best directorial works in the history of cinema, Nicholas Roeg put his heart and soul into the film. David Bowie plays wonderful, you even forget that he is a famous singer and start thinking of him as a great artist. The film is very hallucinogenic in a very special way directed by Roeg that is unique to him. He has, so to speak, in this film developed his techniques, from his previous film, Don't Look Now, to the max.
The movie is about an alien who comes to Earth to find water for his deadening planet, he sells all his technical knowledge and begins to lead a life of idleness and alcoholism on Earth, the years fly by, and he remembers his family on another planet, which has long since died. The whole movie is shot as a surreal video clip with no music. Just the scene where Bowie shows his real appearance is stunning in its genius directing or the original ending where the waiter says, "I think Mr. Newton's had enough for today."
"The Man Who Fell to Earth" is a special film that is a must for all fans of quality alternative cinema. The film is full of great directorial moments that will blow any film expert away.
