Wind River 4K 2017

A cold, penetrating wind. The endless smoothness of crystal clear snow. Majestic pine trees watching the mountain tops. Unhurried wolves prowling around... Wyoming's wild, untamed nature accepts only the strongest into its fold and never bows its head to man. Not everyone is able to settle in these places, and yet, here, far from metropolises, highways and noise is the reservation “Wind River”, one of the last havens of Indians. Left alone with nature and the laws of the tribe, the locals still couldn't hold the delicate balance of power, as inexplicable murders began to occur on their indigenous land, raising more questions than answers. FBI agent Jane Benner, a confident and ambitious young woman who nevertheless needs help, is tasked with solving this puzzle. And help has arrived - local gamekeeper Corey Lambert with a cold squint, a steady hand and the need to drown out the anxieties of the past ready to do anything to find the culprit before the snows of Wyoming are again colored in purple.

The director and at the same time screenwriter of “Wind River” was Taylor Sheridan, quite a successful actor, who has recently excelled in dramaturgy. It was Sheridan who wrote the script for Danny Villeneuve's intense thriller “The Killer” and self-directed the tense horror under the strongly telling title “Nefarious.” Determined not to rest on his laurels, Sheridan set to work on “Wind River” and won again. In his hands, quite traditional detective thriller turned into a stormy cocktail of the collision of two cultures, mortal danger, scenic nature and strong characters who are not going to make concessions.

What's really good about “Wind River” is the unpredictability of the plot. When you watch this story, you are in constant tension. You want to worry about the heroes, because they are not immune to bullets and knives, they are not superheroes, like the same “Avengers”, where, by the way, the pair played Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen. The plot is presented in such a way that does not allow you to relax until the very last moment, and this is a real delight! This is a real thriller, and not some fake.

By the way, for the roles of Indians, the director invited the natives of America. Sheridan sought to bring the action as close as possible to the maximum authenticity, and he largely succeeded. Yes, even Jon Bernthal (Shane from “The Walking Dead”) appeared here, bringing a bit of explosive color to the story.

Bottom line: “Wind River” is a strong and quality detective movie. The movie clings with its aggressive emotionality, complex plot moves and good actors in the foreground and background. I have no reason to give it a particularly low score, because it's exactly the kind of spectacular picture you want to watch on the big screen.
