Honestly, I don't understand why this film is praised so much, and in other reviews it is cited as the benchmark for a Christmas comedy. New Year's mood, good comedy and so on. Someone wrote that it would be good for family viewing, and that there is absolutely no humor below the belt. And the daddy fantasies about the store clerk? In general, this line is not clear to me, why was it put in the 'good family comedy'? It is clear that there are no perfect people, but there are other genres for that. That's one thing.
And the second thing I really didn't like was the animal theme. A crazy granny brought a cat in a box. They didn't get it right away, they shook the box a few more times in the frame. Then the cat chewed the garland, ended up getting burned, and it's a-ha-ha, how funny. And then a Rottweiler was released on the squirrel. True, it is not clear whether he caught up with it, but what is funny here in general?
I don't want to sound like a nerdy granny, but such 'trifles' nullify all the other pleasant moments, leaving a bad aftertaste.
The day before I watched 'Eloise and Christmas' - well, just next to nothing. That's a really kind, kindest film, charging with positivity, so pleasant that I want to re-watch it again and again.
