Watched another horror movie “From Black”, I want to share my impressions. Immediately stipulate that the new picture does not have and close relationship to the films of James Wan. This horror is absolutely not the “Astral”, which we all know and love, apparently the name of this misunderstanding is just a marketing move to attract more viewers.
The movie is about nothing. Here is just a gray spot and regret about the spent money and wasted time. The plot tries to ride on the drama. The main character, while she is in a drug frenzy, has a child who disappears without a trace. Attempts to find him are fruitless, and Cora realizes that the worst has happened. The boy is dead, and the woman is left to live with a huge sense of guilt. Talking in a support group, Cora meets a man who offers her a magic ritual to bring her son back to the world of the living, and the desperate mother agrees.
That is, in fact, the whole plot. Cora is engaged in the occult and magical rituals, makes a sacrifice with a goat, reads witchcraft spells. She is shown visions in which she realizes what happened to her child, well, and in the final scenes the viewer realizes what kind of payback awaits for allowing to look beyond the line.
The very first question that arises after viewing, and who is the woman in black? There is no woman in black in the movie. It has some sort of foul thing with horns and a developing veil, but it's definitely not a woman, but something that looks like a demon. There are no creepy elements at all, no scares either. The creepiest thing in the movie is the tragedy of the mother who treated her child so irresponsibly.
The action of the movie unfolds slowly and unhurriedly. The movie has a lot of drawn-out dialogues and unnecessary scenes. You get tired of watching it. For some reason they put in the movie an unconventional connection of a policewoman with her friend. It has nothing to do with the storyline of the movie and, apparently, the creators needed to emphasize tolerance.
This movie is not a horror at all, even teenagers will not shudder when watching it. Completely passable picture that you will forget after leaving the theater.
