Dragon Fist 4K 1979

In 1979, Jackie Chan's career was skyrocketing due to the success of such comedic kung fu action films as “Snake in the Shadow of the Eagle”, “Drunken Master”, “Fearless Hyena”. However, Jackie still held in the hands of ambitious director Lo Wei multi-year contract, and with each time “break out” for the sake of working in another studio and star in those pictures that would be to his liking, Jackie became more and more difficult. After all, the problem Lo Wei was his lack of talent. Therefore, most of the work of a man who “opened the world Bruce Lee” (as he liked to say it) were one-type, template, and, as a rule, failed at the box office. The public was waiting for something fresh, unusual. And Lo Wei stubbornly continued to make of his protégé second Bruce Lee (that to Chan did not go). Here and “Dragon Fist” was one of the last works where Jackie Chan played a noble avenger.

Unfortunately, the plot of this kung fu action movie is second-rate and primitive. In fact, about the war of clans in Hong Kong alone filmed a huge number of pictures. So nothing “Dragon Fist” did not stand out of them. But in defense of the screenwriter Cheung-ping Wang, I can say that I liked this movie due to unexpected denouements and twists. So the viewer will have the opportunity to see on screen how suddenly a friend becomes an enemy and a rival becomes an ally.

As much as I appreciated and respected Jackie Chan, even with the naked eye it was noticeable that this role was not his. Yes, he fights well. But dramatic roles do not suit him. And that's why the legendary Bruce Lee would look much better in “Dragon Fist”. It is a pity that one of the most famous actors of Hong Kong died in the prime of life. The similarity with Bruce Lee's movies, this picture gets even more because of the participation in it Nora Miyao and James Tien - the stars of Hong Kong cinema, who once worked with Bruce.

“Dragon Fist” though does not claim to be a masterpiece kung fu action movie, but, in general, left a pleasant impression. At least, comparing it with other Luo Wei movies with Jackie's participation, this one will definitely be considered one of the best for me. Here and intrigue, and gorgeous fights, and noble motives of vigilantes - in short, all the attributes of the picture of this genre. Although, of course, all this is designed for the amateur. So if you get acquainted with the period of Chan's work with Lo Wei, then, I think, it is better not to pass by this movie and get acquainted.
