People keep criticizing the second part of “The Camp,” but I don't understand why. Is it because they HAVE to criticize the second part, or because there shouldn't have been a sequel to “The Sleeping Camp”?
I agree that the first part had an excellent, even unique idea with an unexpected ending, and the second turned the film into a kind of maniacal slasher in the style of the often-mentioned Friday the 13th, but in my opinion, the sequel turned out to be no less unique and interesting. Many slasher films have faded into obscurity, and in our time, “Camp” is no exception, but some were forgotten because of their lack of talent or plagiarism of well-known classic slasher films, and others, such as “Camp,” because their sequels came out at the wrong time (1988 was the twilight of slasher films) and were underappreciated by viewers, albeit unjustifiably. Since many said that it was an imitation of Friday the 13th and Halloween, other people didn't even try to understand the essence and atmosphere of the film when watching it, as they were satisfied with these statements. Thus, a worthy film was unjustifiably criticized and forgotten.
I advise all fans of thrillers and horror films to watch the second part, even if you haven't seen the first one, it's also good to watch. Throughout the film, you empathize with the characters, whose personalities are well developed in a relatively short time, so that almost every character is memorable. At the same time, it is impossible not to be impressed by the selfless and cold-blooded Angela, who kills left and right, but you don't get tired of the killing because it all seems appropriate and relevant. Of course, the film has its drawbacks, but they are insignificant. Don't be afraid to watch the second part because of the large amount of criticism, because it is mainly due to the fact that there was no hint of a sequel in the first part, and when it appeared, most people probably thought that the creators just wanted to make a profit.
