Inspired by the success of Peaky Blinders, British producers frantically combed through the criminal history of the United Kingdom and remembered the Crai brothers.
However, not everyone can successfully replicate success, and not always. Instead of a delicious, dynamic drama about the British mafia, we got a kind of insensitive documentary adaptation of events.
To summarize the plot, it's a story about how “bad it is when you have a crazy brother,” told by a girl from a working-class neighborhood. You sit through the whole movie waiting for the story to begin. You wait until the credits roll.
And yet there were the beginnings of an interesting story. About a mother and her two murderous sons, for example. About the hatred between the people closest to each other, about the difficulty of living by the rules. About anything! But for some reason, the authors thought that simply telling the story of two brothers, unknown to anyone except the inhabitants of the island, in a gentle female voice was a great idea.
At the same time, the actors do a good job. Whatever people say about Hardy, he's great.
The imagery is concise and almost stylish, the interiors, the costumes... But I've already seen all this in the series about the Shelby brothers. There's nothing new. It's like the taste of instant coffee—familiar, but not impressive.
