Leaving aside the role of Remy Lebeau, for which he was born, this dancer from Step Up has caught the eye for the third time in the last two years thanks to his projects. Last year, we were thoroughly delighted by “Give Me a Sign” and especially “Show Me the Moon,” and now we have the absolute champion and favorite, “Roofman”! Nothing foreshadowed that by the end of the film we would be sitting with tears in our eyes, bitterly grieving for the relationship between the two characters.

The handsome Derek Cianfrance shot it in such a way that at times you refuse to believe that the film is based on real events. At the same time, as we understand, many facts from Jeffrey Manchester's biography were used for the script. How can you not whistle with the thought, “How boring my life is.” Many of you know that this gentleman managed to rob a decent number of McDonald's restaurants, go to prison, escape, settle down in a toy store to lie low, start a romance with a saleswoman from that very store, and live the best life for himself, as if that's how it should be.

If you are tortured and asked about the meaning of this supposedly boring film, there is no need to look for it. Here you have only the personal story of the cool Jeffrey Manchester, which could have happened to him in an entertaining way. Seriously, how many robbers like him do you know? The man pondered, of course, it's interesting. Each time, the man was aware of his actions, but he still went through with it, managing to enjoy a brief moment of freedom, spending a lot of pleasant time with his new lover and her daughters. Most importantly, he himself emphasizes the conclusion at the end of the film, which makes it even sadder.

Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst played their characters masterfully! Everything they did within the script painted a picture of the kind of man and woman you might easily meet in real life. They are so lively and energetic, without any Hollywood saccharine. Although the story revolves around the elusive Jeffrey Manchester, Kirsten Dunst also had enough space to show her character in the best light. Of course, you can expect to hear stupid comments about the connection between her age and appearance. Wake up, she's so real! It's easy to see in her a woman who is tired of being alone and wants love.

The shameless Derek Cianfrance did not deny himself the pleasure of pleasing the female part of the audience, with the cameraman showing Channing Tatum's slender buttocks for quite a long time during one sparkling scene, and the mischievous director did not forget about his torso either. In general, once again, this is a film whose “based on real events” claim is hard to believe. After all, until the very end, you believe that the sweet couple will have a happy ending, that the man did not break down and was able to start anew, that nothing and no one stands between them. But there is an impassive law that condemns all the bad deeds of the main character. You can't argue with that.

No matter how gentlemanly, charming, attractive, sensitive, and responsible our man was, he still significantly violated the law, which should be equal for everyone on paper. On the other hand, Jeffrey Manchester lived the best part of his life in such a way that a movie was made about him, and he himself was played by Channing Tatum, whose dramatic talent was fashionable to doubt. A deeply moving cinematic revelation, perfect for the autumnal mood of melancholic November. The main thing is, don't become robbers yourselves. Otherwise, someone will want adventure before life is over.
