Dark Night of the Scarecrow 2 4K 2022

Not long ago, I watched the movie “I Spit on Your Grave,” which is a sequel to the old 1978 exploitation thriller that came out 40 years later (by the same authors).

Please, it's a similar situation. Laughter aside, people really don't want to sit quietly in retirement. They absolutely must return (after several decades) and ruin their own legacy. In short, this time it was the cult scarecrow horror film “The Dark Night of the Scarecrow” that got the boot. The original was released way back in 1981.

Since its director (Frank De Felitta) passed away a few years ago, the screenwriter of the first part, J. D. Feigelson, took the director's chair. I'm going crazy, the guy is over 80, and he's releasing a sequel, damn it. Feigelson has brought Bubbba back in all seriousness!

Bubbba is the main character of the first film, who was brutally murdered in a cornfield (while trying to hide from his pursuers, Bubbba pretended to be a scarecrow). Later, he returned from the dead and began to take revenge on his killers. It was a great horror movie for the night. One of the best scarecrow horror movies in the history of the genre, even though it was made specifically for TV.
As for this sequel, it's just awful trash. Some kind of far-fetched amateurishness. It's hard to understand what's going on on the screen.
A mother and her young son move to a small rural community. While the mother is at work, the son stays with his dim-witted aunt. The aunt (seemingly) uses the boy to influence Bubb, i.e., the scarecrow.

If you've seen the original, you must remember Babb's connection with the little girl. She was one of the few who knew about the scarecrow. Feigelson decided to do something similar a second time, but it turned out poorly. The murders are unimpressive. There is no atmosphere. A soulless sequel. And the actors are talentless. Well, the saddest thing is that they even showed a photo of actor Larry Drake for some reason!

Who in their right mind would believe that it's him? It's not evil enough. A cosmic mess from Feigelson.

Once again, I strongly recommend watching the first film. Feel free to skip the sequel. We don't need sequels like this.
