Tell me, have you ever watched movies that are bad in many ways, but that’s exactly why they’re fun? For me, those include ‘Blood Feast’ and ‘The Sliders,’ and more recently, ‘Hack-O-Lantern.’
The movie is, to put it mildly, absurd. The movie begins with a grandfather (this character has no name) giving his grandson a pumpkin and a locket. When the boy’s father finds out about this, he goes to talk to the grandfather, but when he arrives, it turns out the grandfather is a cult member, and he and his accomplices kill him. A few years later, a killer appears and starts murdering people— no, not cult members, but ordinary people.
Honestly, why is this cult even there? It seems to influence the plot, but it feels like a fifth wheel—it’s not really that important. Most of these scenes could be cut, and not much would change. I’d also like to mention that halfway through, a music video starts playing—yes, a music video.
The plot itself is boring. It’s uninteresting to watch what’s happening and listen to the characters’ conversations, which sometimes sound strange.
The actors gave poor performances. And the characters turned out to be boring and listless.
The maniac’s costume looks memorable. A black robe and a devil’s mask with four horns—two on the forehead, two on the sides. His motive isn’t bad either, but again, it’s unclear how the cult is connected to it.
The deaths are very well done for a movie like this. They’re gory and well-executed. I especially like the second death.
