The film begins in London, where the British Prime Minister dies under mysterious circumstances. The funeral is certainly attended by the leaders of the Western world. But what began as the safest event on earth is turning into a most dangerous assassination attempt on the world's most powerful leaders, which in turn threatens the future of the entire world. Only three people remain hopeful of averting a catastrophe: the US president, his faithful assistant, a secret service agent, and an English MI6 agent who trusts no one.
I do not understand the harsh criticism of this film. Of course, the plot does not shine with originality and follows a well-trodden path, again showing terrorists dreaming of destroying those in power and other matters. But at the same time, the film is presented clearly, powerfully, emotionally and exciting. In general, in the best traditions of American fighters.
The main actors have not changed and this is a plus for the film. Gerard Butler, again appeared as the bodyguard of the President of America and played the role again brilliantly. His role is comparable to that of James Bond, he is just as charming and charismatic, despite the hero's melancholy character. Aaron Eckhart, President of the States, is still good at his role. Morgan Freeman, VP, is delighted to see this brilliant actor who has made a brilliant trio with Eckhart and Butler. The supporting characters played well.
Of the shortcomings, I note the weak antagonists, if in the first film Rick Yun played an important role, then in this film the main terrorists are blurred, they are not remembered and merge with the general crowd. Action scenes and special effects, in this part, are not so large-scale and not so grandiose, but in general they are much better than in ordinary action films.
