Yes, this is certainly not Burton's fabulous Chocolate Factory. And this is good, but if Burton could not jump over this original, it would be bad. For Mel Stewart's 1971 film, this is certainly something amazing and despite all the little things and the absence of breathtaking scenery and computer graphics, the film looks in one breath. Involuntarily, of course, there is a comparison with the 2005 remake, which is technically and visually much better, but if you don't find fault with it, you can get a lot of fun.
First, of course, Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka) is worth noting. Despite the fact that I adore Johnny Depp, their Willy Wonka is different - they simply cannot be compared, both are unique in their own way and each of them is amazing ... I was sure that after Depp, Wilder would look like me with a certain disdain, but I was wrong.
Secondly, the rest of the cast ... I can't say that I liked all the actors (well, for example, the fat Agustos in the 2005 film is much cooler), but most of them coped with the roles perfectly! Charlie and his grandfather (Ostrum and Albertson respectively) are absolutely amazing. Schoolteacher Charlie? Well, it's just hilarious!
Thirdly, these are new scenes (for example, a scene with golden eggs and geese, which Burton replaces with a scene with nuts and squirrels) and a different vision of another director - and this is almost always interesting (if the director is not Uwe Ball). Here, for example, the film is made realistically, while Burton makes it clear from the very first seconds that he is showing a fairy tale.
Plus a lot of good humor (the scene with the horned reporter is very funny!), Songs (Grandpa's song is especially funny) and of course chocolate and sweets!
There is something to find fault with, but these are rather scenario flaws (in which there are bloopers and small problems with logic) and a lack of decoration (for example, a river with chocolate) and technical capabilities (for example, swimming through a tunnel).
But in general, this film is an hour and a half of absolute pleasure and another immersion in this wonderful world of a chocolate dream!
