I really liked this anime! I haven't enjoyed it so much in a long time. No, Japan is not Hollywood after all.
The theme ‘teenagers save the world’ is beaten up to obscenity, but here everything is presented in such a way that never once there is a thought ‘All this we have already seen’. The cartoon is bright, lively, extremely dynamic! And it's good to see that the Japanese haven't given up on 2D cartoons yet, because all these 3D-Shrek, Madagascar and others are already boring.
And despite being filled with ‘action’, the cartoon still carries some meaning - for example, that a friendly family is a jewel to be cherished and loved, that if you unselfishly help others, they will help you. I had tears coming to my eyes, as did the main character Natsuke when she received the message ‘Take my account and please save my beloved family’.
All in all, definitely worth watching! but don't compare it to ‘The Girl Who Defeated Time’ - they are two very different things!
And one more thing: the music at the beginning, when the title ‘Summer Wars’ comes up, is, in my opinion, a light joke on ‘Star Wars’. It's not for nothing that the guy with the lightsaber appears there afterwards....
