The movie begins with the story of an accident that happened in 2010 at an Orlando water amusement park, when Tilikum the killer whale dragged an animal trainer underwater and drowned her. As it turned out, this was not the only victim of a killer whale - ten years before this case, in 2001, Tilikum drowned an animal trainer in Canada's Victoria Park. Using shocking footage of the killer whale attack and interviews with witnesses, Gabriela Cowperthwaite attempts to uncover the true causes of the tragedy.
