Trey Edward Schultz has made a truly brilliant movie that cannot be ignored. From the very first seconds, the action begins to pick up frantic speed and does not stop until about the middle of the film, and then simply releases the gas pedal and rushes forward without looking around at anything with the viewer. He just travels to the future and tries not to look into the past, gradually going out of bounds. And he's looking at one of the best cinematography I've seen from Drew Daniels. Listens to one of the best soundtracks I've heard from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, along the way including songs by Frank Ocean, Asap Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Amy Winehouse and tons of other famous artists. This movie has a life of its own. It lives on every frame and scene, and you live this story with it. A very painful and very touching story that will remain in your heart. At least in mine. This is helped by the excellent acting performances of Taylor Russell and Lucas Hedges, and indeed everyone in this film. The film is simply perfect and you can't tear yourself away from it. It rips you out of life and takes your breath away.
This is a movie that cannot be ignored and needs to be promoted, because its complete absence from various awards is now incredibly depressing and even insulting to me. Definitely my top favorite from last year.
