Long before becoming ghostbusters, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis served in the military.
Loser taxi driver John Wiger in one day loses everything that was dear to him. Seeing an advertisement for conscription into the army, he, along with his bosom friend Russell, decides that this is their vocation, and embarks on all the hardships of army everyday life ...
I used to be more than positive about director Ivan Reitman. He seemed to me a kind of storyteller on a par with Chris Columbus, who knows how to turn an ordinary comedy into a whole event. But the further I go down into his filmography, the more disappointed I become. This film is the average walk-through comedy. And even the Charisma of Bill Murray and the charm of Harold Ramis cannot do anything about it.
I liked the movie, but I expected more from the Wrightman / Murray / Ramis trinity. The whole picture is saturated with their style, original humor and signature, as if lazy, antics of Bill Murray. But for some reason, they do not reach their bar in Hunters and Groundhog Day. Most likely in this film they were just looking for themselves, suitable images and style of narration. In order to explode in the future with a high-profile project. In the meantime, you can watch a light, monosyllabic comedy, which was probably successful in its time, but is too simple by today's standards.
Although the comedy is a checkpoint, I liked it.
