While people are raving about the freshly baked IronMen, I was lucky enough to watch an extremely unusual superhero film. A man with a surname beyond my control was making a complex, multi-layered movie out of habitually simple components. If the contrast between the theme and the filling raises doubts at first, then then it is a pleasant surprise, which smoothly turns into admiration (like this). The film quickly puts the viewer on his own wave, which is facilitated by a well-seasoned, everyday atmosphere, measured narration, brilliant camera solutions and a well-adjusted musical theme.
With the actors, too, everything is relatively good. Robin Wright-Penn, firmly in place, is 100% her image. Jackson is generally great, for me this is one of his best works. But with Brussels, everything is more complicated - on the one hand, I am glad that it is he who plays this role, there is even a certain symbolism in this; on the other hand, it's a pity that in some episodes he falls short.
Oh yes, I almost forgot about the most delicious - about the ending. She's just perfect). The thrill is that surprise is achieved not through some tortured over muddles, but by playing on the spectator's inability to see the obvious.
Bottom line: A rare, original movie with a great ending and a few strong episodes. Not for all.
