Special, colorful, gentle melancholy. The film 'The Last Black Man in San Francisco' tells a very unusual story, in which the ideas of self-identification are embedded, by understanding the material side of life and all living environment. Self-delusion, self-deception, acceptance and exclusion, life and death, the presence and absence of one's place in society, one's family and one's home. Even in such a fantastic place as sunny San Francisco, the most unfriendly, cold wind can blow, and the picture with its whole nature shows what it is like to be nobody in a big, rich city.
The main character of the film, named Jimmy, clutching a beautiful old house in a prestigious area of the city with his hands on feet, shows his dedication to such a vital necessity as a family. He loves this house, despite the fact that people who are completely strangers to him live in it. He has no money, family and, in fact, himself. Home is everything that he values and everything that reminds him of a better life: in the past, in the future, and when the right opportunity comes along, in the present. A tall snow-white house, a masterpiece of architectural thought, as a symbol of the great past and historical justice.
The visual decisions made in this tape are a prime example of how exquisite a person can have a taste. Nice, non-toxic colors. Some frames can generally be screened, framed and hung on the wall. Let them see how the real style should look. The film is rife with weirdness. Starting with the filing, ending with the very images of the heroes, who supposedly are still children, and have not grown into adults and conscientious men. Even the dialogues in the film are structured to emphasize this. Symbolism or not, the film has become a real symbol for me. Friendship, family and freedom.
