I'll start from afar. I am a huge fan of the Spider-Man universe. This is my favorite comic book character. And I am a huge skeptic of the new MCU of this hero. And if I can talk for a long time about Spider himself and his not the best pictures (this is about Holland), and it is worth leaving this until the solo album, we will only touch on Venom here.
One of Spider-Man's most iconic villains. And now, for the second film, not the best things are done with him. I reacted with coolness to the first picture, but took it for granted. And here comes the sequel. Which turns out to be even worse. So the authors decided to move away from the gloom and cruelty of the character, changed his background, made the plot comical. And it would be fine if it worked right. In the first film, there were some attempts through the duet of Brock and Venom. But now this no longer clings.
The picture has become shorter in terms of timing. This helped the plot not to sink. But now nothing at all is revealed to us. The picture is empty and just jumps over the events. We don't see any development. In fact, the film is some kind of filler. The characters stand still. The conflicts have not changed since the first part. And the second time to look at the same thing, albeit in a slightly different wrapper, is not interesting. The problems of the heroes are sucked from the finger.
The two new characters do not add any novelty to the film. Yes, Woody Harrelson is charismatic, but this is not enough, and there is not much of him in the film. Screech is a completely empty villain. Well, Carnage. You really expect something powerful from such a character. And you get zilch.
The humor is good in places, but only in places. Symbiote battles have become more watchable. It is still interesting to look at the relationship between Brock and Venom. But nothing else is catchy in the film. When the post-credits scene looks more interesting than the movie, then something is wrong. And looking at her, I feel that it won't get any better.
