"Fall of the Moon" is probably the weakest film of the maestro of destruction, the younger film angel of the apocalypses, the great and terrible Roland Emmerich. The film is beautiful - but it can't be put on the same shelf as such masterpieces as "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Independence Day." Sadly. For there are too many flaws in it. There is a certain camera-like destruction (it is there - but you really feel the power and strength only after the movie passes the equator). And there aren't many scenes like that at all. Which is simply criminal to a disaster movie. Next, the script. Yes, it's fashionable in Hollywood (and not only) to save on scriptwriters and take the audience as immature morons, but not to the same extent! And all bloopers and savagery of the script could be forgiven, if action scenes in the film were a little bit more...
But in the light of recent years, Selena, no, not only coming out of her orbit, stands up in full bloom. But there's a little bit of a twist here. That is, the world will be saved by a strong dark-skinned woman, a loser pilot, and an even bigger loser freak. And another dark-skinned man. And the villains include mostly evil white, non-young male bosses. And evil and also white rednecks. And it would be funny as hell if it weren't all so sad.
What else. In fact, this film is in many ways a blatant parody of another hit of the disaster genre, Armageddon. Well, Michael Bay's film is much stronger and bigger than Emmerich's current brainchild. Notwithstanding even the final action.
On top of that, the first forty minutes is pretty boring...
