A rather cheerful and entertaining story about the friendship between a cute South Korean girl and an experimental superpig named Occha, though it is not a masterpiece of modern cinematography, but it deserves to be seen and discussed. Netflix, as always, is top-notch, presenting an original and vivid picture about an issue that is more commonly mooted on newspaper pages than on the big screen. It is amazing how a film about 21st century consumerism and endless greed of celestials could become so unusual, funny, out of age and emotional and manage to get into the main competition program of the Cannes Film Festival, which is famous for its usual dramatic and purely festival films.

The beautiful and harmonious symbiosis of South Korean live and fresh delivery with Hollywood actors and incredible graphics pleases both the eye and the soul. There's a heart-wrenching story of friendship, action, humor and adventure, with a timely and topical message woven into it all. The director Bong Joon-ho skillfully creates a movie that will be interesting absolutely for any audience: some of them appreciate the line of Migi girl and her pig-friend, some - shootings and chase scenes, some - the story of 'Mirando' company creation and its market strategy, and the fourth - just enjoy the fantastic game of cosmic Tilda Swinton and the long time Oscar-worthy Jake Gyllenhaal.

The cast deserves its own praise. The alien businesswoman in Tilda Swinton is the atypical head of a major corporation, distracting with her unusual image and equally unusual and cunning publicity tricks from the wormy truth. The slightly inadequate and alcoholic showman zoologist Johnny Wilcox, played hilariously funny and truthful by Jake Gyllenhaal, will not leave indifferent even the most fastidious viewer, who has not seen so many strange and wild characters in movies. Paul Dano and Lily Collins are also a delight with their acting and appealing characters.

The only downside is the ending. The creators emphasized a private case, a very personal and touching story, by the end of the film extinguishing the militant-versus-evil fervor of Paul Dano and his crew and pushing that whole plot back. One gets the feeling that any struggle is hopeless and one is left to humble oneself and stay out of the big picture, enjoying one's quiet and unproblematic life. But this in no way detracts from all the other merits of the film, clearly overriding the sagging finale.

It is a vivid and catchy movie about the fact that even in a world where calculations reign and cynical businessmen and greedy executives are in charge, there is room for sincere feelings, love and friendship. Thank you, Netflix, for that.
