I love classic movies, I love love love movies. After reading a little bit about 'Casablanca' I realized that this is the movie I've always wanted to see. I was very excited and ran to the store to get the disc. I expected to see the most brilliant film, because it was revolutionary and made a big step on the road to the development of films about love.
So much has been written about the script in this film, but half a century later it seems miserable and absolutely... nothing. Still, the development of cinema has benefited films of this genre. I wanted to enjoy being close to the classics and watching the development of the film industry with my own eyes...it didn't work. If you can't take your eyes off the other decent films of this time, here I was frankly bored and waiting for the movie to end. And in general, the movie looks more like an ancient film performance, because the script was originally created for the play - what is the point of making a movie?
So I didn't like the movie at all. I don't understand why people still speak so flatteringly about it. If I were offered to watch it again, I wouldn't hesitate to refuse.
