"Mediocrity is concerned with how to kill time, but talent is concerned with how to use it."
Arthur Schopenhauer.
What indicates that the film is overrated? Universal acclaim, streams of laudatory reviews and prestigious film awards - which this movie doesn't quite deserve. This does not mean that the film "sucks. The film is "not bad" in and of itself, but to call the footage something outstanding, no, please!
The many compliments to Cumberbatch's acting are absolutely deserved, clay slathered and prancing on a horse, he does make an impression. The rest of the actors are faceless extras, I saw this one in the TV series "Breaking Bad", and this is the bloated girlfriend of "Spider-Man", long staged shots filled with the enchanting nature of the Wild West - they look much more convincing than the characters. If it weren't for Cumberbatch and the intriguing trailer, the movie would be on the "furthest shelf" of some second-rate streaming service. With all due respect to everyone involved in the filmmaking process, this is nothing, wrapped up in the crispy wrapper of a gay western supposedly shaking the foundations of hardened masculinity. Speaking of meaning, right after watching it, it becomes clear that there is no way to talk seriously about the problems of latent homosexuality, for that there are simply no appropriate words in the director's formulaic melodramatic vocabulary. The basic message: if you want to become a man, don't care about personal hygiene and castrate bulls yourself is not suitable for everyone.
