This is an excellent film. It has, of course, by all standards, been made a long time ago, 11 years for a cinematography in which every six months they introduce new techniques is a lot, but it has not lost all its charm because of that.
In a small town people of all ages and sexes suddenly start dying of heart attacks, and only Frank, a simple expert in the paranormal, sees a serial number on the forehead of each victim before he dies. It gets worse, Frank turns out to be not so simple as it seems, his wife was also murdered six years ago and just after those events, he started to see spirits and everything connected with them.
The film combines almost all genres, here you have a fairy tale, and mysticism bordering on horror, and a thriller with a detective, not forgetting also about humor and a love story. And it's all intertwined pretty harmoniously, at least I did not see any stuttering plot and illogical denouement, what many of the current paintings suffer.
I have the deepest respect and love for Michael J. Fox, and I think a lot of people grew up with his Back to the Future trilogy, and not only. The actor adds some lightness and easiness to every character and to every movie he shoots. And this movie was no exception, his Frank Bannister, though not beloved by many residents, but is pleasant in his image.
It is clear, that no Oscars, Golden Globes, Palme branches, the film did not and will not claim, but won the hearts of many viewers. And if you have not seen it, watch it, you will not waste your time and get yourself in a good mood.
