'The Lost Generation,' everyone says, referring to today's Western youth. What the hell?! It's not the lost generation. It's us getting older and forgetting how 'lost' we were.
Ordinary school, ordinary 70's, ordinary graduates. Here it is - the last day of school. Sure, the weed, the beer, the rock 'n' roll. But that's all the material component, let's leave it out. The main thing in the film is the spirit. That unique and sweet atmosphere, so dear to the heart of an adult. When your blood boils with alcohol, when episodes of indifference change with a feeling of maximalism and omnipotence, when there are no limits, no bans, no authorities, when there is nothing but you and eternal fun.
The film's concept is unequivocally transferable through the years, it is not tied to a specific era. This movie will be relevant as long as people finish school.
Separately, I would like to note the absence of any vulgarity and cinematic toiletry. The creators successfully maneuvered on the edge of showing the life of young people without censorship, but still within the bounds of decency. This is not another American pie (God forbid).
And yes, you can see the very young Jovovich, Affleck and McConaughey here, the last one I'm particularly excited about.
