Another, so to speak, "fall" of actor Gerald Butler. And a very good one at that. I'll be honest - it's an unexpectedly great film.
Director Jean-François Richet was able to give his audience a holiday. However, he has experience in this business. I highly recommend everyone to watch Richet's "Enemy of the State" dilogy (a biopic about a real-life French bank robber). And now here we saw the story of a simple Scotsman, the captain of a passenger airliner on a long intercontinental flight. On the very New Year's Eve. And everything would have been fine, but the evil of effective managers ... i.e. a violent storm ... In general, there was a crash. And down below there were, you know, a bunch of wild gangs of scumbags. And had to survive.
The movie is great! Especially on the big screen! At first we watch an excellent disaster movie, and then a very lively action film. In general, first a sort of "Turbulence" and then a shocking action movie about survival in a hostile jungle.
Butler seems to be rejuvenated here. Mike Colter (a big black guy with a goatee) is also very good.
The action movie is very good. And very silly (I was reminded of "No Way Out" with Owen Wilson). There will be a lot of shooting, heartwarming removal of sentries with improvised objects and much more. There's blood (albeit not much).
And even the color scheme of the film very skillfully underscores the whole thing.
All in all, I highly recommend it. As a techno-thriller and as a survival film.
I haven't seen such a good movie in a long time.
