It was directed by William Peter Blatty, the author of 'The Exorcist,' from which the 1973 film of the same name was made. In 1983 William wrote a prequel to his novel called 'Legion' and in 1990 he was asked to adapt his book and direct the film, later called 'The Exorcist 3'.
Over the course of the film we see a police investigation into several gruesome murders, which in my opinion is drawn out and boring, and only half an hour before the end does the mystical component begin.
All in all, the movie is far from the first part, but better than the second.
