The greatest achievement of this movie lies in its 'prophetic' potential. The plot of the movie revolves around a planned assassination attempt on a president - and a year after the movie was released, John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Frankenheimer has taken on a very bold subject and the slightly unconventional editing in this movie is quite harmonious. I will say more - the plot of the film is so relevant and explosive that most likely Frankenheimer could afford to shoot the movie as it turned out - it would still be recognized as a masterpiece.

And finally - very confident performance of the actors. Even Sinatra looks quite harmonious.
