In "Zigeunerweisen," director Seijun Suzuki crafts a haunting and atmospheric tale that defies easy categorization. Set against the backdrop of 1920s Japan, the film follows the intersecting lives of two former colleagues, Aochi and Nakasago, whose paths cross once again under mysterious circumstances. As they become embroiled in a series of strange and otherworldly events, including encounters with a ghostly woman and a mysterious wandering musician, their lives and identities begin to unravel. Blending elements of Japanese folklore, surrealism, and psychological drama, "Zigeunerweisen" is a haunting meditation on the nature of reality, desire, and the passage of time.
