Giving the impression of the most lavish consumerism of all possible, designed mainly for teenagers who are fond of cars and punk rock, “Confiscator” - this failed in its time, but later became a cult movie, thanks to the release on various vhs and dvd editions, is actually much deeper and more interesting than it may seem at first glance. The events described in the movie are intentionally betrayed in such a way that everything that happens should resemble a farce, while the theme of nuclear threat stated in the movie is still relevant and has not disappeared anywhere.
People again die like flies from something mysterious and brightly glowing, it is worth it only to show interest in something forbidden. “Four dead humanoids”, - manages to inform the shabby and not clear where the girl came from, who just so easily fell into the car, yesterday fired from the supermarket for endless tardiness and a fight with the boss, and today has already become an employee of a very dubious agency engaged in the seizure of unpaid cars in time, Emilio Estevez. It won't be a matter of going any further: subjected to lobotomy and escaped from the scientific base in a bundle with the most dangerous alien exhibits, shoved elementary in the trunk, mad scientist with multicolored lenses, will have to teach such lawlessness, in comparison with which 20 thousand bucks, appointed for the capture, radiating exorbitantly strong radioactive threat of the red-honored Chevrolet Malibu, will seem a form of disrespect for human labor, as such.
In its turn, the car, which is discharged and almost melting in front of the eyes, will start dashing from one hand to another, and the contents of the trunk will in no way be desCRIbed: The plot scythe evoking in the memory of Tarantino and Guy Ritchie rather than artless comedies of the 80's, however, is not going to produce the effect of a cheapened by someone balaganova ukatayka, and its technical reading, formalized by the calibrated camerawork of the genius Robbie Muller, the same one who shot almost all Wenders' films, and accompanied by the most invigorating soundtrack, born by the joint efforts of Iggy Pop and Tito Larriva, will allow true movie buffs to get a lot of additional allusions and bonuses at their disposal.
A separate conversation - all sorts of details, which in “Confiscator” or as it is also called “Expropriator” - a great number and most of them are paradoxically connected with food. Thus, in one of the scenes Otto - Estevez's character - eats from a can, which is very eloquently labeled “food”: hence it is quite logical that the package with six cans of beer, bought together with his partner, will be clearly labeled “booze”. In line with all of the above - the names of most of the agency employees, proudly calling themselves “confiscators”, are given in honor of popular worldwide brands of beer - Bud, Light and Miller, which, however, is only a small part of what, if desired, can be unearthed in this lascivious and stylish movie vinaigrette, the genre of which is as difficult to determine as, say, to try to remember in what other films starred after this Emilio Estevez.
