After reading Faster, Pussycat! I have an irresistible desire to get to know Russ Meyer's work in more detail. My second Russ Meyer movie was Motor Psycho, which in my opinion is a weaker movie than Pussycat, less dynamic and less professionally shot, more lazy, fast, not thoughtfully made. I had concerns about the rest of the movie, but good thing they didn't come to fruition.
So, my third Russ Meyer movie was Vixen!
Based on a rather simple plot about the love affairs of the wife of a naive pilot who is rarely at home, Russ Maher managed to make a great thrash adventure. As in Motor Psycho, Maier again adds some serious problems to the storyline, and if in Motor Psycho there was a problem of negative influence of war on a man, then in “Vixen!” there is a cold war theme and a problem of interracial relations. But, I'll note, it doesn't spoil the thrash component a bit and even makes the movie more original.
Vixen! More calm and less dynamic movie than Pussycats and even than Motorcyclists, but this movie is more integral and if Motorcyclists is a bit boring to watch, then “Vixen!” looks in one breath.
In my opinion, the selection of actors was great, I believe absolutely everyone, from the gas station attendant to the main character. All the same Russ can pick up girls in his movies, one is more beautiful than the other, and what are their habits, and what manners... Mmm....
I would especially like to mention Erica Gavin (Vixen Palmer) and Harrison Page (Niles). Erica is gorgeous in all her manifestations: gait, movements, smile, eye-rolling is just on top, and how she behaves when communicating.... A very beautiful girl and a very talented actress. After watching Vixen! I am left with a desire not only to watch all of Meyer's movies, but also to watch all of Erica's movies.
