The plot is simple and uncomplicated - Clark, a genius in the development of food additives, goes on vacation with his family by car to a large amusement park, sightseeing and visiting relatives along the way. All further events seem to be strung on this axis on the principle from small to large: as the heroes of the movie progress, many trials await them, but it seems that nothing in the world can stop them.
Often getting into stupid situations, the protagonist does not feel this stupidity, he is holy in it, not seeing anything around, he rushes to his goal. The family as if emphasizes all the comic behavior of Clark, shades him, but at the same time and does not condemn. The main reason for Clark's comic behavior is his somewhat distorted notions about the life and manners of the inhabitants of the backwoods, with which he is apparently familiar only from movies and TV programs. He is used to acting within the framework of clear principles and rules, but he is inflexible, and, fulfilling his duty to himself, he will bring his family entertainment even if the world comes to an end.
The movie looks easy and interesting, it does not pester the viewer with the search for the meaning of life and self-exploration of the characters, everything is aimed at traveling together with the Grizwolds and having fun.
