A good and worthy representative of the Italian jallo-thriller from the widely acclaimed director Lucio Fulci.
This movie stands apart from Fulci's thrash-horrors. In those films the main emphasis was on the demonstration of physical violence, bloody and spectacular scenes of murder. Of course, here they are also present, but the emphasis is shifted to the detective component and the mystery for the viewer: who is really a maniac? I, admittedly, was even surprised that it turned out to be not the same beautiful and rich girl, and how many expectations there were.... Lucio Fulci here deliberately plays with the viewer to prepare a surprise at the end.
On the plus side, we should also mention the well-transmitted atmosphere of a closed Italian town, the musical accompaniment and the minimal number of script bloopers, especially in comparison with the aforementioned horrors (except for 'Flesh Eaters' - my favorite Fulci film).
On the downside, attentive moviegoers will highlight some technical inaccuracies in terms of, for example, editing and so forth.
Overall, as already mentioned, a good thriller.
