The theme chosen for this picture is far from new. We have already seen a lot of movies about zombies, vampires, werewolves and all sorts of nasty things. They were funny, like the recent “Zombieland”, or penetrating to the bone, like “Night of the Living Dead”, but such things have always been a success with the audience, especially with many girls, who like to squeal when on the screen, from nowhere, appears disfigured zombie. Proving the above, the remake of the famous George A. Romero film “The Crazies” in the first weekend collected 16 million dollars with a budget of 20, and to this day has already paid off, which can not but please the creators.

Continuing the tradition of all the old and unforgotten zombie-horror movies, Breck Eisner (director of this creation), focuses all his attention on a few saved people. Only they are no longer hiding in boarded up houses and huge supermarkets, but running around the whole town, dodging and if possible shooting off their unfriendly comrades. Also, as in many such movies, an epidemic has swept through the town. This virus is a psychotropic device that acts first on a person's brain, turning him into an immobile statue, and then it corrodes his entire body. Not without a gang of marauders, who are shown very sparingly, and only 2 minutes of screen time. What was to my liking was the army of soldiers and doctors suddenly infiltrating the city, checking the inhabitants for the presence of infection in the body. They act quickly, without any unnecessary words, clean everything on their way and sometimes without even knowing whether a person is infected or not... they just carry out their orders, killing everyone who gets in their way, effectively spraying Napalm around.

As for the atmosphere, it wasn't conveyed very well. There was not that horror and a lot of unexpected moments when you would jump up on a chair. There was more of a predictability of the next moment, but at the same time it did not come to banalities. Still, something was clearly missing...Yes, and the emphasis was not on bloodiness and cruelty, but on the psychological relationships of the three main characters, on the desire to survive and not become infected, because so in the air and the smell of approaching death.

The actors played believably, there are no claims to anyone, they were really good. I would like to note the soundtrack, everything was in place and right on point! With its help the atmosphere was just the same more heated, and the feelings of danger became sharper. Well, and the work of the operator deserves only praise. Very clearly worked out all the landscapes and especially liked how he undoubtedly successfully managed to remove the temporary camp with infected people. Thanks a lot for the ending too, it came out awesome. When the main characters look back on the past, on their former town, on their dreams of a happy life in it, on the child they planned to raise there so long ago and how they say goodbye to that and go to their bright future, to a new town, to new opportunities and dreams.

A quality movie made from a script by one of the best directors in the genre, George A. Romero, no doubt deserves your attention.
