Deadly Games 4K 1989

I stumbled upon this movie quite by accident, and my hands are itching to write at least a couple of lines about it, because I don't see any other reviews, and people, probably before choosing to watch it or not, want to have some idea about it.

I was really made fun of by the premise of this movie combined with the genre. And I didn't quite believe that this movie wouldn't be a comedy, I assumed it was just a French version of the movie 'Home Alone' even though it was released a year earlier. In the end we were shown a drama, which if an adult will not be touched, then a child should definitely be touched, because it shows the fears of every normal minor - it's worth remembering that unexpected shot with a dog....

The main place of action development is a large mansion. Of course, there are enough rooms and gimmicks there. I expected Thomas not only to dress up like Rambo, but to be more ready than Kevin to set traps: with his temperament, brains and capabilities it is quite possible. However, this is a thriller rather than a comedy, and it doesn't allow for much smiling. The hero often cries, protecting himself and his grandfather, who is nearly blind, while Santa, quite capable of murder, takes his time, walking with measured steps behind them, like Freddy Krueger.

The camerawork is certainly intimidating. Filmed in the style of classic horror, many moments make you think of 'The Shining'. What can be said about the line of mom and her lover, who are worried about Thomas, is that it is transparent and boring. The musical accompaniment is quite good: given the specificity of the story, it can be called pseudo-Christmas mixed with avant-garde, of course.

But what I didn't understand was the meaning, the main idea of the movie. Especially remembering the sluggish ending, you wonder about it. But I think it is revealed in the epigraph to the movie. Perhaps, if I say that this is a Christmas horror movie for children, I'll hit the mark, although I'm not sure that for children in general this genre is appropriate.
