Private detective from Chicago, former police officer Sheba Shane returns to Louisville. The thing is, her father's company is about to be taken away, and she is trying to help him. But he is accidentally killed in a shootout. Now she is hunting down the man who organized everything—the owner of the Shark insurance company.
Pam Grier is back in blaxploitation. The film builds on the traditions of Coffy, Foxy Brown, and Friday Foster. But unlike them, Pam Grier plays a real Amazon from the start, confident and ready to solve all problems with force.
Therefore, everything is predictable. We understand that she is a superhero. No one will torture her, no one will even be able to hit her. I think that, to a certain extent, her character was modeled after Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry.
In my opinion, this weakens the film. However, even as a simple action movie, it looks very good. And, as usual for blaxploitation, it has a wonderful soundtrack.
In conclusion: Pam Grier's last blaxploitation film. Probably not the best movie, but definitely worth watching. After Pam Grier, perhaps only Sigourney Weaver created so many strong-willed and powerful female characters. Therefore, the film is worth watching simply for Pam Grier and the excellent music.
