Some may call this film unbearably boring and long. I believe it is a true masterpiece of 80s and 90s cinema, created by the master Sidney Pollack. It is one of the few films that deservedly won two major Academy Awards - for Best Picture and Best Director. And, of course, it is one of the best love stories, brilliantly played by Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.
The film has it all. First and foremost, the majestic and mysterious nature of Africa, which captivates from the very first frames. The cinematographer's beautiful work transports the viewer into this atmosphere, creating a feeling of being there. Next is the story. The story of a woman who is strong-willed, determined, and capable, who managed to organize work on a farm, build a factory, and later a school. A woman who survived illness and forgave her husband's betrayal. A woman who loved and was loved, and who lost everything that was dear to her...
In addition to the work of the director, actors, and cinematographer, I would like to highlight the work of composer John Barry. His music helps to feel the film even more deeply. And also the work of the screenwriters, who managed to adapt Blixen's works.
True cinematic masterpieces, as time has proven, do not need flashy titles. But how much is hidden behind just two words - ‘Out of Africa’...
