An excellent film. It's very rare that I don't get bored during 105 minutes. Everything is great here: the plot and the acting. David Hess has a talent for playing villains, but Franco Nero is every bit as good as him here.
A couple experiencing certain difficulties in their family life spend their vacation traveling by car with a trailer. An Italian journalist (who is also a rare boor and drunkard) and his wife pick up a fellow traveler on the road—a psychopathic gangster who has recently committed a major robbery and is hiding from the police and his accomplices. The bandit quickly reveals his true colors, and the couple finds themselves held hostage. The further development of events deserves the closest attention from moviegoers and, in my opinion, will give them many pleasant moments. Hess and Nero compete on equal terms for the title of negative hero, although they are on different sides of the barricades. I especially liked that after the main storyline ends, we see what happened next.
The film is over thirty years old, but it can be watched in one sitting. Not every modern film can boast this. I sincerely recommend watching it.
