The first part was excellent, then it went downhill. The second part was mediocre, but watchable, the third part was pure madness, the fourth part broke all records, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were a fifth, sixth, seventh...
I look at the achievements of the director of this creation, and what do I see? A shark-squid, a cyclops, an ark of monsters, a stone monster. It simply begs the question: is the director clearly out of his mind, or is he in his right mind, but too deep?
The film is simply overflowing, pardon my language, with outright insanity and human stupidity, from beginning to end. A crowd of supposedly modern teenagers, lost in the woods, accidentally stumble upon an abandoned psychiatric clinic. No one's phones work, which the director emphasizes—classic, five plus for you. The word “abandoned” can be taken with a grain of salt. While watching, you get the feeling that cannibal monsters scrub the floors, dust, change the bedding on all the beds, and wash the curtains every day, all while masking the cleanliness with clutter in the form of scattered papers. And it's not entirely clear how they heat this rather large building, clearly not with a fireplace in the hall or a generator in the basement, although they may have an oil well and a small oil refinery in the backyard. The characters' fussiness is sometimes reminiscent of the movie Scary Movie, as they behave just as foolishly, only there it's a comedy, and here it's a horror movie. Young people are cut, chopped, dismembered, and eaten, but as can be seen from the film, those who remain alive for a while have a good appetite and sleep soundly, no matter what. And what kind of miracle drill one of the mutants has is a complete mystery to me, because I have never seen anything like it anywhere. There is only one conclusion: most likely, they are just big fans of winter fishing in the mountains. And any stuntman would envy their professional snowmobile riding skills.
Conclusion: If these pseudo-directors continue this series of films in the same vein, it might be worth changing the genre from horror to comedy.
