Gab and Driss, childhood friends estranged since leaving the orphanage, lead very different lives: one is a police officer with the Internal Affairs Department, the other a fixer for thugs. When their first love dies in a suspicious accident, his 17-year-old daughter, Leila, takes Gab's gun and sets out to track down a powerful corporation willing to do anything to cover up the case. Forced to team up, the orphans must stop her before she does something irreparable...
This action film had a great potential : the status of orphans in a society based on the family is not so obvious (and I know what I'm talking about);even more interesting is the way they take the law in their hands : one individual struggling against a powerful company director who "holds the region in her hands "can't hope to win;this shady woman, masterfully played by Suzanne Clément , an overpossessive mother whose relationship with her son should have been more developed ("to be in jail or to stay with you, ,it makes no difference "says the junkie son ). The beginning of the movie ,which recalls Chabrol's "que la bête meure" (the beast must die, 1969) ,and the stranglehold the high bourgeoisie has on their fellow men could have given a chabrolesque touch to the movie.
But Olivier Schneider, who worked in James Bond and others ,wanted a movie full of adrenaline : two thirds of the movie consist of car chases, shootings , fights in which even the damsel in distress takes part .All things violence and one could have expected more after an enticing beginning.
